Thinking about Chronic Pain as a Disease

Elliot Krane: Is Pain A Symptom Or A Disease?

February 10, 2017

Physicians are often puzzled when pain continues on, sometimes long after the underlying cause (say an injury) goes away. More and more, forward-thinking physicians are viewing chronic pain not simply as a symptom, but rather as its own unique disease.  Dr. Elliot Krane, a pediatric anesthesiologist at Stanford University, recently discussed in a TED Talk and with National Public Radio some possibilities as to why it makes sense for us to begin thinking of chronic pain as a disease in order to be more successful in helping people.

There is hope. We are here to help, schedule an appointment today with on of our licensed therapists and begin to take back your life!
